BATON ROUGE, LA — Authorities say a 44‑year‑old middle school counselor accused of sending inappropriate messages to a 14‑year‑old former student has been found dead, just days after an arrest warrant was issued against him.

Baton Rouge Middle School Counselor Found Dead

The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office confirmed that Quinton Dixon was discovered with a self‑inflicted gunshot wound inside the cafeteria of the former Glen Oaks Middle School, an abandoned campus in East Baton Rouge Parish. Police are treating the death as a suicide, though the investigation remains open.

Dixon, who worked at Westdale Middle School, had been placed on administrative leave earlier this month after school officials were alerted to allegations that he sent flirtatious text and Instagram messages to the girl between November and January.

An arrest warrant obtained by The Advocate charged Dixon with four counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile, alleging he complimented the girl’s appearance, asked if she had a boyfriend, suggested a romantic relationship, and offered her a ride home.

The girl told police about the messages after Dixon allegedly tried to approach her while she walked home from school. Her brother later posted a viral video exposing Dixon’s behavior and calling for accountability.

The East Baton Rouge Parish School System confirmed it had been notified of Dixon’s death but declined further comment while the investigation continues.
