After a pedestrian collision on Louisiana Highway 617, 48-year-old Aaron O'Donnell tragically perished Tuesday night, January 20, 2026; the Brownsville neighborhood is grieving his great loss.
Louisiana State Police Troop F said the accident happened shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Thomas Road near to Old Natchitoches Road. Troopers were sent to look into a single-vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.
Preliminary inquiry showed that Aaron O'Donnell, who was dressed in dark clothes, was crossing the road from west to east when a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe was heading south on Thomas Road. He was hit by the automobile for reasons still being investigated.
Aaron was taken to a nearby hospital with life-saving measures but eventually passed away. He had serious wounds. The Hyundai's driver was not hurt and was appropriately strapped in. Although usual toxicological tests were taken as part of standard investigative techniques, authorities said impairment is not suspected. The collision is under investigation still.
Family, friends, and loved ones left grieving an unanticipated and great loss as word of Aaron's death spreads. His death reminds us with great sobriety of the fragility of life and the speed with which disaster can strike.
The Louisiana State Police still advise both drivers and walkers to be vigilant and cautious when traveling on or near roadways, especially during late hours.
