Xavier Reynolds Tragedy; Hyde County Community Grieves 12-Year-Old Who Died in Dirt Bike Accident

 The Hyde County community is mourning the devastating loss of 12-year-old Xavier Reynolds, who passed away on Monday afternoon after a tragic dirt bike accident involving an SUV.


As reported by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the incident took place at approximately 4:30 p.m. at the crossroads of Nebraska Road and High Road. According to troopers, Xavier was riding a dirt bike with a 10-year-old passenger when the bike disregarded a stop sign and struck an SUV heading west on Nebraska Road.

Both boys were ejected from the dirt bike upon impact, and officials noted that neither was wearing a helmet during the incident. Xavier sustained severe injuries and succumbed to them while being rushed to a helicopter landing site for urgent medical attention. The 10-year-old passenger experienced significant but non-fatal injuries and continues to receive medical care.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the location while investigators assessed the details of the incident. The SUV driver was not reported to have sustained any injuries.
