Tinker Air Force Base raised its security alert level on Monday afternoon, imposing “stop, check, and pass” procedures on all outgoing lanes until further notice. Base representatives communicated this modification just before 4 p.m., indicating that an announcement will be made once regular gate activities are restored.
This interim protocol mandates that all vehicles leaving the base must undergo extra security screenings, resulting in extended wait times at the installation exits.
Base authorities also acknowledged that this heightened security measure has led to considerable delays for Youth Programs (YP) transportation for students attending Soldier Creek Elementary and Parkview Elementary. Families were informed directly through YP communication methods.
"Because of the ‘stop, check, and pass’ procedures at the gates, YP vehicles are delayed in picking up children from school," the notice explained. "YP management has communicated with both schools to inform them and ensure that the children remain safe until we arrive."
Around 4:36 p.m., officials gave an update confirming that the vans from Soldier Creek and Parkview had exited the base and were on their way to the schools.
No further information has been provided regarding the reason for the increased screening measures. Base officials stressed that additional details will be communicated once the outgoing lanes are back to standard operations.
