 A couple has been discovered deceased in what officials are treating as a possible murder-suicide incident in Rocky Mount, Virginia. This unfortunate event took place on Friday, December 5, 2025, just after 9:00 a.m.


As per the Sheriff’s Office, deputies answered a 911 alert regarding an unresponsive person found in a car in the 1400 block of Patti Road. When they arrived, law enforcement officers found two lifeless bodies inside a red Honda SUV, both having suffered lethal gunshot injuries.

The deceased have been named as James Randolph Smith, aged 55, and Tina Marie (Brown) Spencer, aged 41, both of whom resided in Rocky Mount. Authorities have confirmed that the two were acquainted, and evidence gathered at the scene suggests this case is being regarded as a murder-suicide.

The inquiry is still in progress as deputies await the final results from the Medical Examiner's Office in Roanoke.
