Suspect DJ Marshall Arrested After Shooting Granite City Police Officer During Manhunt

 Granite City, Illinois — Authorities have arrested 26-year-old DJ Marshall following a shooting incident involving a Granite City police officer on Johnson Road Thursday afternoon. The officer, who was struck multiple times, was rushed to a St. Louis hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.


The shooting occurred around 2:19 p.m., when officers responded to a report of an unwanted subject. Upon encountering Marshall, he allegedly pulled out a firearm and opened fire before fleeing on foot. Police described him as armed and dangerous, prompting a manhunt involving multiple agencies, including the Illinois State Police, the FBI, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, and local departments. K9 units and aerial support were deployed to locate the suspect.

Marshall was apprehended after several hours of officers surrounding potential hiding spots. Authorities noted that he has a history of legal issues, including outstanding warrants and recent felony charges.

Granite City Police Chief Gary Brooks expressed relief over the officer’s condition, confirming that he was conscious and speaking after receiving medical care.
