Plantation Deadly Shooting: Authorities Look Into Gunfire Incident in Plantation; One Individual Admitted to Hospital

 Authorities are looking into a shooting that took place on Monday afternoon in a neighborhood close to NW 70th Avenue and NW 16th Street.


Law enforcement personnel reacted to gunfire reports around 3 p.m. and requested that the community steer clear of the area while they worked to establish security at the site. As a safety measure, Plantation Middle School went into lockdown, although officials indicated there was no imminent danger to the school grounds.

At 3:15 p.m., officials blocked NW 70th Avenue from NW 11th Place to NW 16th Street to enable emergency responders to operate safely.

By 3:29 p.m., police announced that one individual had been transported to a nearby hospital. Information regarding the victim's condition was not available right away. Officers stated that the vicinity was secure but continued to advise residents to keep their distance while the inquiry was still ongoing.

The temporary lockdown at Plantation Middle School was lifted at 3:38 p.m., permitting students and faculty to return to their usual routines.
