Rau, an esteemed journalist and communications figure in the Ozarks for almost forty years, leaves a lasting legacy defined by pioneering journalism, innovative public relations efforts, and significant contributions to the community.

Rau initiated her broadcasting journey at KY3 in 1984, beginning as a weather presenter before moving into field reporting. Her investigative journalism quickly set her apart, highlighted by a prominent series that investigated the environmental and regulatory challenges associated with chicken farms in the Ozarks. She later established herself as a reliable anchor on KY3 News, recognized for her professionalism, clarity, and dedication to local narratives.

In 1989, Rau’s career took a new direction when Pete Herschend, co-founder of Silver Dollar City, invited her to oversee the theme park’s public relations initiatives. Throughout the following thirty years, she emerged as one of the foremost communicators in the Branson tourism sector. Rau adeptly navigated the park through significant expansions, the launches of rides that garnered international acclaim, and numerous prominent events, developing a reputation for creativity, integrity, and a remarkable affinity for promoting the Ozarks' culture.

Silver Dollar City issued a statement commemorating her influence:
