The community of Flower Mound is grieving the tragic loss of 14-year-old Isha Mishra, a ninth-grader at Marcus High School, who passed away after being hit by a vehicle on Tuesday afternoon. The unfortunate incident occurred just before 4 p.m. on December 2 at the crossroads of Valley Ridge Boulevard and Browning Drive, a typically peaceful place now filled with sorrow.
As reported by the Flower Mound police, officers arrived to find the young girl critically hurt after being struck by a 2020 Chevrolet truck. Emergency responders from the Flower Mound Fire Department transported her to Medical City Denton, but despite their attempts to save her, she was declared deceased at the hospital. The Denton County Medical Examiner subsequently confirmed her identity as Isha Mishra, delivering the heartbreaking news that many had feared.
Authorities have indicated that the 60-year-old driver was halted at a stop sign in the 6000 block of Browning Road when the girl began to cross. The vehicle collided with her at the intersection for reasons that are still being investigated. The driver, who resides in Lewisville, was unharmed and remained at the location, cooperating fully with law enforcement. By Tuesday evening, the areas surrounding the accident remained shut down while investigators attempted to reconstruct the events leading up to the crash.
Lewisville ISD issued a statement expressing profound sadness over the death of one of its students. "We are incredibly saddened to confirm that a student from Marcus 9th Grade Campus was killed today in an auto-pedestrian accident off campus. Our hearts go out to the family during this extremely challenging time," the district stated. They also mentioned that crisis counselors are available to assist bereaved students and staff as they cope with the unexpected tragedy.
