Emergency crews are responding to a major incident at Silver Lake Nursing Home, also known as Bristol Health & Rehab Center, following a reported gas explosion that caused a partial building collapse in Bristol, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:05 a.m. at the facility located on Tower Road. As conditions rapidly escalated, officials requested a second alarm and activated a Level 2 Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) response. First-arriving emergency units reported significant structural damage, prompting immediate search-and-rescue operations for residents and staff inside the building.
Authorities on scene confirmed that approximately 15 patients were initially accounted for outside the facility. However, multiple individuals remain unaccounted for, raising serious concerns as rescue efforts continue. Emergency responders reported numerous victims trapped beneath debris on the second floor, as well as additional individuals trapped in the basement area.
Early emergency communications indicated that at least one fatality was discovered in the basement. Officials cautioned that the situation remains fluid and that casualty numbers may change as rescue operations progress.
As the response intensified, a third alarm was transmitted, bringing in substantial mutual aid resources, including out-of-county fire, rescue, and emergency medical units. A medical helicopter has been placed on standby in anticipation of transporting critically injured patients to area trauma centers.
Emergency personnel are continuing systematic searches of the damaged structure while closely monitoring building stability concerns. Triage operations are underway as responders coordinate patient care amid the evolving emergency.
