The community of East St. Louis is mourning the tragic death of Estelle Stamps, age 34, who sadly lost her life Wednesday evening after a two-car accident in Smithton, located in St. Clair County. This event took place at approximately 10:22 p.m. on Illinois Route 159, just north of Douglas Road, as reported by the Illinois State Police.

Estelle was declared dead at the scene, a statement confirmed by St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. Another person involved suffered injuries and was taken to a local hospital for medical care.
