Ephraim Otieno Kentucky Incident: Medical professional at the University of Louisville Hospital, Ephraim Otieno Passed Away in Accident

The University of Louisville Medical Center and various communities throughout Kentucky are grieving the passing of Dr. Ephraim Otieno, who tragically lost his life in a car accident on Sunday night. He was honored for his commitment as a physician, excellence as a student-athlete, and cherished relationships as a friend, son, and brother.

Dr. Otieno committed his professional life to the well-being of others, bringing the same empathy and leadership he demonstrated on the basketball court into the field of medicine. Before he earned his medical degree, he thrived as a student-athlete at Model High School, achieving the status of the school's all-time leading scorer.

Former coach Wes Scarberry expressed his sorrow through a touching memorial, stating that this loss has had a profound impact on his family.

"Katrina and I, along with our entire family, are overwhelmed with sadness regarding the loss of Ephraim Otieno. He was not only a former student and player but also someone we held dear as family," wrote Scarberry. "

Ephraim consistently made it a priority to visit us whenever he was back in town. It was a true privilege to have coached him and witness him achieve the title of Model High School’s leading scorer. Ephraim embodied leadership both in sports and in life."

Scarberry further remarked on Dr. Otieno’s commitment to serving others, describing him as a kind teammate, friend, son, and brother.

"Ephraim, you will be profoundly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Otieno family during this difficult time," he wrote.
