Muskegon officials have named Dewaun Deshawn Robinson, who is 25 years old, as the individual suspected of being involved in the shooting that took place in the Jackson Hill area, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to three others on Saturday, December 6. Law enforcement confirmed Robinson is presently in detention and receiving medical treatment for the gunshot wounds he incurred during the event.

The incident unfolded at approximately 3:15 p.m. at a residence located in the 600 block of Jackson Avenue, interrupting what city representatives described as one of Muskegon’s normally peaceful areas. Officers arriving at the scene found several people suffering from gunshot wounds, with a 25-year-old male and a 22-year-old female declared dead on site. Their identities have not been disclosed yet.

In addition to the deceased, three other individuals were hurt, including a 4-year-old child who had non-life-threatening injuries and was anticipated to be discharged from the hospital soon. Investigators indicated they do not consider the shooting to have been random.

Robinson, aged 25, has a noted past involving crimes related to home invasions, as indicated by authorities. However, officials have yet to clarify how this background might connect to the ongoing investigation.

Muskegon’s Mayor Ken Johnson released a statement on Saturday evening, urging for solidarity within the community and support for those impacted.
