Georgetown, TX – In a tragic development, officials have determined that a residential fire on December 5, 2025, was not an accident but rather a purposeful act of arson associated with the homicides of two community members, leaving the close-knit neighborhood in shock and mourning.
The event occurred late that night when firefighters from the Georgetown Fire Department rushed to 300 Pipe Creek Lane in response to reports of dense smoke, loud alarms, and a person collapsed in a yard. When they arrived at approximately 10:27 p.m., responders found the deceased body of 76-year-old James William Yost outside, situated near the entrance of a neighboring residence. Within the burning house, they also discovered 33-year-old Kenneth Michael Wade Clanton, who resided with Yost.
SUPPORT THE FAMILY - GOD BLESS YOU
What started as a standard fire alarm quickly transformed into a criminal investigation. Detectives examining the location found indications that both individuals had been murdered before the fire, which was intentionally set, likely to hide the evidence of the crimes. Authorities have yet to provide any information about possible suspects or the motives behind these acts, but the situation is being regarded as a deliberate double murder.
James Yost, a long-standing member of the Georgetown community, was well-respected for his extensive participation and the wise guidance he provided to those around him. At the age of 76, he represented the enduring spirit of the community, with his life experiences impacting numerous individuals.
In sharp contrast, Kenneth Clanton was just beginning to embrace life. The youthful 33-year-old was filled with dreams and enthusiasm, rendering his premature passing particularly devastating and a clear representation of life’s unpredictability.
This calamity has profoundly affected families, friends, and the larger Georgetown community, leading to an overwhelming response of sorrow and support. Vigils and memorial services are already in the works as residents cope with the senseless violence that disrupted their tranquil neighborhood.
Law enforcement is actively reconstructing the incidents of that tragic night, urging anyone who might have relevant information to come forward. Meanwhile, the community bands together to honor, concentrating on the positive influences left by Yost and Clanton instead of the tragedy that took them away.
Our hearts go out to the grieving families during this challenging time. May the cherished memories of James and Kenneth bring comfort amidst the pain.
