Cinnabon Employee Fired After Racist Outburst Toward Somali Couple at Bay Park Square Mall

A Cinnabon employee at Bay Park Square mall in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin, has been terminated after a viral video captured her directing racist slurs and hateful remarks toward a Somali couple. The confrontation, which spread rapidly across X and TikTok, has sparked outrage and renewed conversations about discrimination faced by Somali and Muslim communities in public spaces.

The video shows the employee aggressively telling the couple to leave while repeatedly using the N-word, mocking the woman’s hijab, and openly declaring herself racist. Despite the hostility, the couple remained calm and continued recording the incident. No part of the footage or eyewitness reports suggest the customers behaved provocatively toward the worker before the outburst began.

Cinnabon spokesperson Sawyer Carlson confirmed the firing in a statement issued Saturday. According to Carlson, the franchise owner acted swiftly after becoming aware of the video. “The individual seen in the video was immediately terminated by the franchise owner. Their actions and statements are completely unacceptable and in no way reflect the values of Cinnabon,” the statement read. The company emphasized its commitment to providing a respectful, welcoming environment for all customers.

Online users have praised the couple for maintaining composure in the face of blatant harassment. Meanwhile, others expressed anger that such behavior occurred in a customer-service setting. Social media users also identified the employee as Crystal Wilsey, intensifying demands for accountability.

As the video continues to circulate, the incident has prompted broader discussions about racism, harassment, and the experiences of Somali and Muslim communities in everyday public interactions. Many hope the swift action taken by the franchise will serve as a reminder that discriminatory behavior will not be tolerated.
