Cherished Glasgow matriarch Hazel Marie Robinson has died at 86, leaving behind a legacy of devotion to family and community service.
Hazel Marie Robinson, 86, from Glasgow, Kentucky, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital, nestled among her beloved family. She was born to the late Fred Jackson Jolly and Lavinia Oliver Jolly, leading a life characterized by her unwavering commitment to her family, her community, and her profession.
She served as a dispatcher for the Glasgow Police Department until her retirement, where her dedication, calm nature, and sense of duty earned her the admiration and respect of her colleagues and the local community.
Throughout her life, Hazel was surrounded by family, affection, and strong connections. She is survived by her caring children, Cindy Smith and John Davis, who embody the values of kindness and resilience that she imparted to them.
Her legacy continues through her six grandchildren: Angelia Upton (Josh), Amy Smith, Kent Parker, Alyssa Davis, Krystal Towle (Matt Poynter), and Andy Emmitt, each of whom she nurtured, mentored, and celebrated throughout their journeys.
Hazel’s circle of love extended even more broadly, as she was a cherished presence in the lives of her ten great-grandchildren—Mya Smith, Kaylyn Geralds (Harley), Marty Upton, Adam Upton, Jackson Upton, Bailey Stinnett, Haley Parker, Thomas Parker (Gracie Martin), Brylee Edwards, and Atlus Edwards—and seven great-great-grandchildren: Nina Padilla, Miles Padilla, Winson Geralds, Karter England, Kyler England, Bentley Parker, and Theodore Parker.
The relationship she had with her family was further enriched through the dedicated care from her special caregiver, Hannah Deweese, who provided comfort and support during Hazel's last days.
Hazel was renowned for her warmth, kindness, and devotion to her family, alongside a profound commitment to her community. As a dispatcher for the Glasgow Police Department, she was key in ensuring the safety and welfare of her neighbors, responding to numerous emergencies with professionalism and empathy.
Colleagues remember her as reliable, observant, and always ready to offer advice or encouragement. Her passion for service, paired with her gentle spirit, established her as a foundational figure in her community.
Before her passing, Hazel was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Walter Robinson; her daughter, Judy Emmitt; her grandson, Joe Parker; two sons-in-law, Marty Smith and Jackie Emmitt; six brothers: Ed Jolly, Ray Jolly, Finley Jolly, Stanley Jolly, Freddie Jolly, and Robert Jolly; and four sisters: Hallie Shoopman, Bertha Trulock, Frances Harvey, and Alma Thurman. Although her absence is profoundly felt, the memories she built with her family, friends, and co-workers guarantee that her spirit lives on.
A service honoring Hazel’s life will take place at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Union #2 Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday and will continue after 9:00 am on Wednesday until the service begins.
