The Newport community is grieving the tragic and unexpected demise of Brittany Wendt, who sadly lost her life on December 5, 2025, due to a disastrous vehicle collision on Maple Street. Brittany's life concluded far too early, leaving her family, friends, and everyone who knew her engulfed in profound sorrow and disbelief.

At around 3:42 p.m., emergency personnel from both the Newport Police and Newport Fire departments responded to a serious rollover accident involving two cars. Despite their prompt action, Brittany, an adult female and the operator of a Jeep Wrangler, was declared dead at the site of the accident. Preliminary investigation results suggest that a Chevrolet Silverado pickup crossed the centerline on Maple Street, colliding head-on with Brittany’s car, resulting in a rollover. This collision inflicted fatal injuries that took her life immediately.

The loss of Brittany is deeply felt. She embodied kindness, compassion, and quiet resilience—a figure who made everyone in her presence feel appreciated and heard. Whether she was providing encouragement to a friend, sharing hearty laughter with someone special, or extending help wherever it was required, Brittany lived selflessly and radiated generosity. Her absence will create a significant void in every place she once illuminated.

The individual driving the pickup truck, named as 49-year-old Dylan Galland from East Windsor, Connecticut, was found to be under the influence at the time and was subsequently charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated. He is currently receiving treatment for injuries that are not life-threatening and is facing further allegations, including Negligent Homicide, with appearances scheduled on December 8th at the 5th Circuit Court – District Division – Newport.

While the investigation is still in its preliminary phases, officials are actively accumulating details to gain a comprehensive understanding of this unfortunate incident. The Newport Police Department, supported by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office and the New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit, invites anyone with insights or who may have observed the crash to reach out to them at (603) 863-3232.

As family, friends, and the larger community struggle to process such a significant loss, Brittany will be cherished for the unconditional love she shared, the happiness she infused into life, and the wonderful memories she leaves behind.
