Two People Killed in Shooting Incident at Hialeah Apartment Complex, One Person Hurt

Two individuals were killed, and a third was taken to the hospital following a shooting incident on Thursday afternoon at the Lago Grande apartment complex in Hialeah, according to officials. The event occurred around 3 p.m. in the 2500–2700 block of West 67th Place, causing a wave of shock throughout the neighborhood.

After receiving reports of gunfire, Hialeah Police and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue quickly arrived at the location, finding three adult victims within the building, each with gunshot wounds. Despite the rapid actions of the emergency responders, two victims were declared dead at the location.

A third person, whose relation to the shooting remains unknown, was transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. Officials have not disclosed the status of the individual nor clarified if they were involved in the shooting or simply a bystander.

Hialeah Police spokesperson Lt. Eddie Rodriguez confirmed the unfortunate fatalities but noted that the inquiry is still in its infancy. Detectives are investigating the reasons for the shooting and are in the process of collecting evidence, questioning possible witnesses, and examining any available surveillance footage that could offer insights.

“We are currently gathering essential information, and it’s premature to ascertain the complete details leading to this event,” Lt. Rodriguez remarked on-site.

The apartment complex, a secured community located near West 28th Avenue, was sealed off by law enforcement as detectives carefully scrutinized the scene. The mood around the complex was one of shock, with numerous residents mentioning that they had not experienced any disturbances prior to the outbreak of violence.

Lago Grande residents voiced their astonishment and worry, as the typically peaceful community had never encountered such a brutal event. “It’s unbelievable, especially since everything seemed normal earlier today,” a resident mentioned, preferring to remain unnamed. “We’ve always felt secure here.”

The probe is still in progress, and officials have not shared any further details regarding the identities of those killed or potential suspects. Anyone with pertinent information is encouraged to reach out to the Hialeah Police Department or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).

Currently, authorities have not dismissed the chance of new developments in the investigation, and residents are anxiously awaiting more information as detectives continue to unravel the specifics of the shooting.
