Wabaunsee County, Kansas — A heartbreaking incident on Interstate 70 has resulted in the fatalities of two residents from Junction City. The collision took place on Monday morning at approximately 11:30 a.m., when a Jeep Liberty, heading east, drifted off the roadway into the median for reasons that are still being examined. This vehicle hit a culvert, rolled over, and then struck a Peterbilt semitrailer that was entering the interstate from an on-ramp.

Two individuals from Kansas, Cheryl A. Martin and Perry A. Martin, tragically lost



Cheryl A. Martin, aged 63, and Perry A. Martin, aged 65, were declared deceased at the site. At the time of the accident, both were secured with seatbelts. The operator of the semi-truck did not sustain any injuries.

The incident led to considerable disruptions, with the eastbound sections of I-70 being closed for several hours while the Kansas Highway Patrol carried out its inquiry. Officials are concentrating on understanding why the Jeep strayed from its designated path, although the specific reason is not yet known.
