The serene hamlet of Nyack, New York, is in shock following a tragic incident resulting in the deaths of Anita Lam Wright, 55, and Jeffrey Wright, 52, found in their residence located on North Midland Avenue on Saturday, November 1.
The Orangetown Police Department reported that officers were sent to 290 North Midland Avenue around 4:34 p.m. after a family member expressed worries regarding the couple's safety related to a possible domestic issue. After failing to receive responses from the homeowners despite numerous attempts, the Rockland County REACT (SWAT) Team was summoned to safely access the home.
Upon entering, officials made the tragic discovery that both Anita and Jeffrey Wright had suffered deadly gunshot injuries. A shotgun, which is believed to have been used in the incident, was found at the location.
Captain Michael Shannon confirmed that the Orangetown Police Detective Bureau is working with several county and local entities — including the Rockland County Sheriff’s BCI Unit, Clarkstown Police, and the Rockland County Medical Examiner’s Office — to carry out a comprehensive investigation. Currently, investigators are looking at the matter as one related to domestic issues, although they also pointed out that no previous domestic incidents or police responses were recorded at the residence.
Authorities are calling on anyone with pertinent information or anyone who might have witnessed anything unusual in the vicinity to reach out to the investigators at 845-359-2121.
