Local Bakery Owner Passes Away in Heartbreaking Auburn Accident

 AUBURN, Ala. — The Auburn community is in sorrow after the untimely death of Jennifer Cooper, a cherished local entrepreneur, mother, and former educator, who passed away Tuesday morning following an accident at East University Drive and Alfa Court. The collision, which involved a car and a school bus, took place around 8 a.m. CST. Despite the quick response from emergency services, Cooper was declared dead at 8:09 a.m. by Lee County Coroner Daniel Sexton.



Jennifer Cooper was well-recognized as the proprietor of GiGi’s Cupcakes, which had locations in Opelika, Alabama, and Columbus, Georgia. Her bakery was a beloved part of the community, delighting customers with her delectable treats and her friendly, personal approach. In addition to her business, she was a loving mother to two children and a former science teacher, who was remembered by both students and peers as passionate, nurturing, and inspiring.

The Traffic Homicide Unit of the Auburn Police Department arrived at the site and initiated a thorough investigation into the accident. Officials have confirmed that there were no additional injuries reported. Cooper’s remains have been transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for an autopsy.
