LIVINGSTON, Texas — The quiet community of Livingston is grappling with an unfathomable sorrow following the discovery of 31-year-old Adelia Garcia and her young child, found deceased late Saturday night in a stationary vehicle along U.S. 59, near the local John Deere dealership.

As reported by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy conducting routine patrol observed a silver Ford parked on the shoulder of the highway between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. on November 1. Upon stopping to investigate the vehicle, the deputy made the heartbreaking finding — both Adelia and her child were inside and had lost their lives.

The situation is being explored by authorities as a potential murder-suicide, with the Livingston Police Department at the forefront of the investigation, supported by the Texas Rangers, Polk County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Highway Patrol. The remains were moved to Cochran Funeral Home, with inquiries managed by Justice of the Peace Terri Mayer.
