Keturah Griffin Involved in Fatal Car Crash: 40-Year-Old Keturah Griffin Loses Life in Blaze-Induced Collision on Parkway East

 Authorities in Pennsylvania are looking into a tragic accident that resulted in the death of a woman early in the morning on November 24 along the Parkway East. The incident took place at approximately 5:30 a.m. on I-376 near mile marker 73, near the Hot Metal Bridge, positioned between the Oakland exit and the Squirrel Hill Tunnel. Two cars were involved in the crash, which ignited a fire in one of the vehicles, leading to the closure of the eastbound lanes for several hours while emergency personnel worked on clearing the area.

As reported by Pennsylvania State Police, the incident initiated when an Infiniti sedan encountered mechanical failure and became immobilized in the roadway. The driver had turned on her hazard lights and had called for a tow, choosing to stay in the vehicle as she awaited help. Shortly thereafter, an eastbound Ford F-150 pickup approached and collided with the rear of the halted Infiniti. Aerial images captured by the KDKA Drone Team depicted smoke rising from the wreckage, with both cars severely damaged in the center of the highway.

Witnesses informed investigators that the pickup's driver had switched lanes just prior to the impact. Trooper Rocco Gagliardi remarked that testimonies indicated a “complete transition from one lane to another,” implying that the driver might not have been aware that the disabled sedan was directly in their path. The collision's intensity caused the Infiniti to catch fire, trapping the driver inside. The driver of the pickup and two Pittsburgh police detectives who happened to be nearby quickly tried to save the woman, but the flames escalated too quickly for them to assist her.

Officials later announced that the victim, identified as 40-year-old Keturah Griffin, perished at the scene. The driver of the F-150 incurred minor injuries and received medical attention. Authorities extended their sympathies to Griffin’s family as they begin to deal with this unexpected and tragic loss. The investigation is ongoing as the police analyze witness statements, evidence from the scene, and data from the vehicles involved to gain a clearer understanding of the events leading to the accident.
