BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — The community is grieving the tragic loss of Mary Jolly, 27, a dedicated paramedic who lost her life in the service of others. Early on Saturday morning, Mary was helping a driver involved in an accident on I-95 when she was hit by another car. She was taken to a hospital in Florida, where she passed away, encircled by her family and colleagues.
Mary had been with GEMS since 2021 and was part of the department’s swift water rescue unit. Renowned for her bravery, professionalism, and kindness, she tackled every emergency call with commitment and a steadfast focus on others' safety and health. Her teammates recall her as someone who remained composed in tense situations, caring, and wholeheartedly dedicated to her community
