Huntsville Authorities Look Into Homicide After Discovery of Body of Missing Individual Close to Highway 20
The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) has announced the sad finding of the remains of 25-year-old Lazarus Howard III on Wednesday, concluding a prolonged search that began when he was last seen in July. His body was discovered close to Highway 20, with early indications suggesting the possibility of foul play. An autopsy is anticipated to clarify the specific cause of death.
Howard was reported as missing on July 19, following his final interaction with his mother on July 10. Despite a thorough investigation, significant advancements were only made when detectives received an anonymous lead. This lead pointed them to 19-year-old Kylan James Haley, who has since become a primary suspect. Officials traveled to Montgomery to interrogate Haley, and it was amid this inquiry that Howard’s remains were located.
Consequently, HPD has filed a murder warrant against Haley, and procedures are currently in progress to bring him back to Madison County to face legal charges.
HPD is appealing to anyone possessing additional information to step forward as they work to reconstruct the events surrounding Howard’s demise. Authorities have also conveyed appreciation for the community's support in this matter.
