Houston resident Donnene Walker-Vean lost her life in a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 65 located in Jefferson County.

Authorities in Jefferson County are carrying out a thorough inquiry into a heartbreaking event on Interstate 65, which resulted in the death of 29-year-old Donnene T. Walker-Vean earlier this week. The victim has been identified as Walker-Vean, a resident of Houston, Texas, by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, following her life-threatening injuries sustained during a series of occurrences that commenced with a two-vehicle accident near Kimberly on Tuesday afternoon. This incident has brought deep sorrow to her family and the community as investigators seek to uncover the precise details of what transpired.

As per officials, the events started around 12:12 p.m. when Walker-Vean's vehicle was involved in a crash on I-65 in the northern part of Jefferson County. Although the complete details of the initial accident are still being examined, authorities indicate that her car came to a halt on the roadway following the collision. This was followed by a tragic sequence that escalated an already perilous situation into a fatal outcome.

Following the first collision, Walker-Vean left her vehicle. At some point during her time outside, another car traveling on the interstate collided with her immobilized vehicle. The impact from this second accident caused her car to move, leading to further injuries for Walker-Vean. Emergency personnel were deployed immediately, with first responders urgently assisting her at the scene before she was taken to UAB Hospital for critical medical care.

Despite the swift reaction and the dedication of healthcare professionals, Walker-Vean was declared dead at 12:36 p.m., just moments after her arrival at the medical facility. Authorities have withheld information regarding the drivers of the other vehicles involved, and there have been no public confirmations of any other injuries. The investigation into the initial crash and the subsequent fatal impact is now being led by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, including Alabama State Troopers.

In line with standard procedures for serious accidents, investigators will scrutinize factors such as road conditions, traffic patterns, visibility, witness accounts, and tangible evidence from the site to reconstruct the event timeline. Multi-stage collisions on highways can be particularly intricate, prompting troopers to encourage anyone who saw the accident or who might possess pertinent dash-camera footage to step forward. According to them, every piece of information could assist in clarifying what triggered the series of events that led to Walker-Vean's tragic passing.
