Homicide-Suicide Incident in Festus Results in the Death of Hailey Nichole Jennings

 Authorities have named Hailey Nichole Jennings, 27, from St. Louis, as the person who lost her life in a heartbreaking murder-suicide incident that was uncovered on Friday evening in Festus. The Festus Police Department has confirmed that Jennings was discovered dead alongside another person after officers carried out a welfare check at a home in the area.


Law enforcement officials arrived at the residence in response to a request for a wellness check and found both individuals deceased at the location. Investigators are treating the matter as a murder-suicide, with autopsies pending to determine the official causes of death. Law enforcement has reassured the community that there is no ongoing risk, and the inquiry is being assisted by agencies from Jefferson County.

Family and friends have characterized Jennings as a compassionate and cherished person, highlighting her deep connections within the community. She is survived by her parents, David and Susan Jennings (née Miller), her brother Riley (Alicia) Jennings, as well as her grandparents, Malinda Meyer, the late Robert Jennings, and Joan and the late Ronald Miller. She also leaves behind a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who are grieving her premature death.

Funeral plans have been organized for those who wish to express their condolences. Visitation will take place on Thursday, November 13, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kutis South County Chapel, situated at 5255 Lemay Ferry Road. A funeral Mass is scheduled for Friday, November 14, at 10:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church located in Hillsboro. The funeral procession will leave the chapel at 9:15 a.m., with burial to follow at Shepherd Hills Cemetery.

The community is still reeling from this devastating loss, and authorities are continuing to examine the specifics regarding the case.
