Highland, Indiana, Grieves for Theodore McSwine Following Devastating Solo Car Accident

 HIGHLAND, IN — The tightly-knit town of Highland, Indiana, experienced a jolt early Wednesday when it learned about a deadly car accident that claimed the life of 47-year-old Theodore McSwine. Around 4:39 a.m., officers from the Highland Police Department were dispatched following a report of a single-car incident on U.S. 41 / Indianapolis Boulevard, close to the 9200 block.


When they arrived at the location, authorities found that McSwine’s 2021 Jeep had gone off the road, collided with a tree, and flipped over in an empty lot. McSwine, who was by himself in the vehicle, was discovered unresponsive and was later declared dead at 5:58 a.m. after an examination by the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

Investigation Underway

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, with authorities exploring various possible causes, such as road conditions, weather, and mechanical issues. The Highland Police Department, in conjunction with the South County Accident Reconstruction Team, is closely collaborating with the Lake County Coroner’s Office to uncover the reasons behind this tragic event.

The accident momentarily closed a section of Indianapolis Boulevard while crews worked to clear the area and document the wreck. The road has since reopened to vehicles.
