Hibbing Grieves for 24-Year-Old Parker Johnson, Killed by Gunfire Shortly After His Birthday Festivities

 HIBBING, Minn. — A day initially filled with excitement and celebration for 24-year-old Parker Charles Johnson transformed into an unimaginable tragedy just a few hours later. Johnson, who spent November 1 with friends and family celebrating his birthday, was tragically shot early Saturday morning outside the Meadowview Apartments in Hibbing.

The Hibbing Police Department reported that officers arrived at 3535 Ninth Avenue West in response to gunfire at approximately 2:16 a.m. They found Parker with several gunshot wounds to his chest. Despite prompt efforts from paramedics and medical teams, he was declared deceased at the scene.

Law enforcement quickly established a secure perimeter, documenting evidence near a Dodge Ram pickup truck, while also obtaining accounts from witnesses and examining nearby security footage. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) is providing assistance during the investigation.

By 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, one individual was arrested without further incident and processed at the St. Louis County Jail, awaiting an assessment by the county attorney’s office. Officials believe that the shooting was an isolated event and have reassured the public that there is no ongoing risk to safety.
