The Hampton Police Department is looking into a devastating crash involving a single e-scooter that led to the death of 34-year-old Joseph Pepin, a resident of Hampton and originally from Westford, Massachusetts, over the weekend. The event took place early on Saturday morning, November 8, 2025, when officers were dispatched to a report regarding a person found lying on the ground around 12:54 a.m. at the intersection of Ashworth Avenue and G Street.

When first responders arrived, they discovered Pepin unconscious and without breath. Despite their diligent attempts to revive him, he was declared dead at the scene. Authorities established that Pepin had been riding his e-scooter on the sidewalk in a northern direction when he lost control and ended up colliding. Officials confirmed that there were no other vehicles involved and mentioned that Pepin was not wearing a helmet at that moment.
