A heartbreaking event transpired in Buckhead on Sunday when it was reported that a father fatally shot his son during a domestic altercation at an apartment complex located on Pharr Road, as stated by the Atlanta Police Department.

Officials indicate that the police were initially dispatched after receiving a report about a confrontation between a woman and her boyfriend, 32-year-old Durante Schofield, who were allegedly involved in an intense argument. While law enforcement was conversing with the woman, Schofield’s father, 54-year-old Durante Tolliver, showed up at the scene following contact from her.

Shortly thereafter, witnesses reported that Tolliver drew a gun and fired at his son, hitting him as many as twelve times in the parking area. Schofield was declared deceased at the location before medical personnel could provide assistance.

Tolliver was apprehended without any further issues and is now facing several charges, including homicide, aggravated assault, and illegal possession of a firearm during a felony.

Investigators have yet to disclose specifics regarding the reasons that led to the violent escalation of the confrontation. Detectives are still in the process of interviewing witnesses and examining surveillance video from the apartment complex.
