Devastating Kayaking Incident Results in the Deaths of Shane Garcia and Aaron Montemarano in Shinnecock Bay

 A kayaking excursion over the weekend off the coast of Long Island ended in sorrow when the remains of 27-year-old Shane Garcia and 25-year-old Aaron Montemarano were retrieved from Shinnecock Bay between Sunday, November 2, and Monday, November 3, as confirmed by officials.

Garcia’s girlfriend reported him missing at approximately 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, after he did not come home from the trip. Police located his work vehicle parked at the end of Shinnecock Avenue in Hampton Bays, raising immediate alarms regarding his welfare. Earlier that same day, Garcia had posted a photo with his girlfriend, depicting him and Montemarano kayaking by the Ponquogue Bridge—an image that is now recognized as their last moments together, according to Southampton Town Police.
