On Saturday, emergency teams from Cape Coral Fire and the Iona-McGregor Fire District arrived at the location after being alerted about people in the water.
Authorities verified that three individuals were successfully saved, while two others were recovered from the water without signs of life. Even with immediate CPR and comprehensive life-saving procedures performed on two rescue vessels, both victims were declared dead.

First responders were observed administering CPR to the two severely injured individuals as they were transported by boat towards awaiting medical personnel. Unfortunately, their revival attempts did not succeed.
