The community of Hancock County is grieving the death of 81-year-old Arthur Patterson Jr., who sadly died early Tuesday morning in Portage Township. Arthur lost his life at the spot of a single-vehicle accident, leaving his family, friends, and neighbors devastated by the abruptness of his loss.
As reported by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place around 4:24 a.m. on Township Road 21, located just west of State Route 613. Authorities found that Arthur was driving in a westward direction when he could not successfully navigate a curve in the road. His vehicle went off the surface, veered to the left side of the roadway, and flipped over. Despite the prompt arrival of emergency personnel, Arthur was declared dead at the scene.
