Kan. – The Wichita community is in sorrow over the unfortunate demise of 19-year-old Alejandro M. Tran, who tragically lost his life after his car was submerged in the Little Arkansas River on Monday afternoon.
Law enforcement was alerted to the vicinity of 21st Street and Burns Avenue, situated between Arkansas and Amidon, at approximately 4:00 p.m. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Tran’s vehicle overturned in the river. Rescue personnel from the Wichita Fire Department retrieved him from the water and took him to a nearby hospital, where he eventually passed away due to his injuries. Alejandro was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The investigation revealed that Tran was heading west on 21st Street when his car veered across several lanes of traffic, collided with a tree line, and ultimately fell into the river. Observers noted that the vehicle seemed to be moving at a considerable speed at the moment of the collision. Given the vehicle’s position, a specialized tow truck was required for its safe extraction, opting for a different route than the one it took when it entered the river.
