Zane P. Jackson Caroline County, VA Traffic Incident: A Fatal Accident in Caroline County Claims the Life of a 21-Year-Old Driver

 A tragic collision involving several vehicles occurred on Interstate 95 heading south, resulting in the fatality of a young driver on Sunday evening in Caroline County.

According to the Virginia State Police, the event transpired around 8:30 p.m. on October 5, 2025, near the 110-mile marker. The initial crash involved a 2010 Chevrolet and a 2017 Ford, leaving both vehicles immobilized on the highway. Shortly afterwards, a 2018 Freightliner tractor-trailer heading south could not avoid the crash scene and struck the Chevrolet from behind.

The driver of the Chevrolet, 21-year-old Zane P. Jackson, sustained critical injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. Two teenagers who were riding in the Chevrolet were also taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Freightliner and the occupant of the Ford sedan did not report any injuries. Authorities noted that all individuals involved were wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident.

Officials shut down several lanes heading south for a number of hours while State Police Crash Reconstruction Teams investigated the area and cleared the wreckage.

The investigation remains ongoing as officers work to determine the sequence of events and factors that contributed to this unfortunate accident.
