Queens musician YP DA YG was one of two cousins died in a murder-suicide in Jamaica, New York.

A horrible family dispute over the sale of a house in Jamaica, Queens, culminated to the murder-suicide of two cousins on Friday night. Rapper YP DA YG, whose real name was Prince McFarlane, was named as one of the victims.

According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), officers were called to a residence on 116th Road near 155th Street shortly before midnight on Friday, October 3, in response to allegations of gunfire. Inside the residence, police discovered Prince McFarlane, 37, dead from gunshot wounds, and his older cousin, Antoine, 41, who had self-inflicted a gunshot wound to his head.

Shortly after being transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, Antoine was pronounced deceased. A gun was discovered at the site close to his body.

Family members told investigators that a disagreement over the sale of Antoine's mother's blue-sided, two-bedroom family house was the reason behind the fatal occurrence. The house was reportedly listed for sale approximately a month before, with an asking price of roughly $600,000.

According to the victims' 62-year-old uncle, who lives in the basement of the property, McFarlane was assisting Antoine in handling the transaction. The two men reportedly quarreled over how to divide the proceeds from the sale.

According to the uncle, it had to do with the sale of the house. "It was related to the allocation of funds."

Authorities believe that Antoine may have spent a lot of time inside the house with his cousin's body before taking his own life.

When he arrived home at around 11:45 p.m., the uncle said he was with McFarlane's long-term partner, who had been waiting outside her car since 6:30 p.m. when she was unable to reach him.

"She stated his pickup is here and I have not heard from him since 11 a.m." said a neighbor. "It was around noon when the truck arrived."

When the uncle and girlfriend entered the darkened house, McFarlane's body was discovered near the threshold of the living room.

She sees him. She screams out loud. She starts crying," the uncle remembered. He remained still. He must have been there for a while.

Fearing that Antoine was still inside with his weapons, the uncle pulled the wife out of the house. A few seconds later he heard one gunshot from above.

"It sounded like he was coming down the steps until his body dropped," the uncle said. "After we hurried to the driveway, I dialed 911."

Prince McFarlane, a young rapper from Jamaica, Queens, was well-known for his gritty lyrics and close ties to the community. His admirers called him YP DA YG. Friends and supporters have paid his respects on social media, recalling him as a talented musician with "a voice that spoke for the streets of Queens."

On the internet, one acquaintance wrote, "He liked music and family."It is terrible that things ended this way.

Detectives from the NYPD's 113th Precinct are still investigating the murder-suicide. Police have not officially determined the reason, despite family members' insistence that the deadly altercation was sparked by financial worry over the sale of the property.

Authorities said there were no other injuries reported in the incident.

The investigation is still ongoing.
