Mason Triana Miami, FL Apprehended: 27-Year-Old Mason Triana Identified as Person Who Shot at Two Officers from Miami Police

 The person involved in the violent confrontation on Thursday morning, which led to injuries of two Miami police officers, has been identified as 27-year-old Mason Triana. This concerning incident occurred in the Allapattah neighborhood and ended with Triana being discovered dead inside a residence.

According to Miami Police Chief Manny Morales, the situation began around 7:00 a.m. on October 9, 2025, when police responded to reports about an abandoned vehicle situated near NW 15th Avenue and NW 26th Street. As officers assessed the scene, a ShotSpotter alert indicated that gunfire was detected in the area. Soon after, law enforcement found a second car that had sustained significant bullet damage.

Without any warning, Triana opened fire, striking a male sergeant in the knee and injuring a female officer in her ankle. Both officers were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital for medical care, and their condition is reported to be stable as they recover. Chief Morales commented, “Their display of incredible bravery and professionalism throughout the incident was noteworthy.”

After the shooting, Triana took refuge in a nearby house, prompting a major deployment of SWAT teams. Negotiations lasted for several hours before officers eventually discovered him deceased in the residence. Authorities have yet to confirm whether Triana's death was a result of self-inflicted wounds or due to crossfire exchanges.

Another individual has been apprehended for questioning as the inquiry continues. Chief Morales emphasized that the quick and organized actions of the police played a crucial role in preventing a larger disaster.
