A tragic incident took place in Randolph County on Wednesday evening, leading to the passing of 55-year-old Mary Rexrode, a resident of Brandywine.
According to a press release from the West Virginia State Police, the accident happened around 6 p.m. on October 8, 2025. Authorities reported that Rexrode was traveling north along U.S. Route 219 in Huttonsville when her car went off the roadway for reasons that are currently being investigated. The vehicle struck a culvert and overturned before landing in the opposing lane.
Emergency teams responded shortly after the accident, but despite their efforts, Rexrode was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials confirmed that no other vehicles were part of the accident.
