Marco Ambrocio Gonzalez Car Accident: Harrisburg Man Rescued From Burning Crash on I-83 by Bystanders
On the morning of September 28th, an automobile slammed off Interstate 83 near Exit 40A and was instantly devoured by fire, causing devastation in York County's Fairview Township. A 33-year-old Harrisburg native named Marco Ambrocio Gonzalez was one of the three people imprisoned there. Although courageous bystanders pulled all of the occupants from the fire, Gonzalez subsequently died from his injuries; the coroner ruled that his death was an accident.
Authorities say that at 7:44 a.m., the car veered off the road and collided with a concrete barrier. The collision ripped into the vehicle's fuel tank, igniting a ferocious fire that swiftly spread throughout the vehicle. Witnesses rushed to the scene and got the driver and two passengers out before first responders could reach the smoking wreckage.
By the time rescuers got there, Gonzalez had already been hauled clear, but they were unable to revive him. When he was pronounced dead at around 8:15 a.m., the coroner verified that he had been wearing a seatbelt and that he had suffered multiple blunt force injuries. Thankfully, the two passengers—both men in their 20s—were just slightly hurt.
Investigators said the driver was exiting the freeway via Exit 40A when he lost control and slammed onto the concrete barrier. In such accident, the fuel tank burst, causing the rapid fire. The coroner's office officially deemed Gonzalez's death to be accidental.
