Jacob Langley Wagener, SC A terrible collision kills a young driver and sends two cars into the water in a car accident.
The Aiken County Coroner's Office has named Jacob Langley, age 21, as the victim of a tragic incident that plunged two cars into Lake Neeses on Saturday afternoon.
According to officials, the crash occurred at around 1:03 p.m. at Wagener Road and Flowing Wells Road. A 2013 Chevy Silverado struck Jacob's 1991 GMC Sonoma as he attempted to turn left. Both vehicles plunged into the lake.
Emergency services, including a dive squad and Couchton Fire Rescue, rushed to the scene. Regretfully, Jacob Langley was pronounced dead at 1:40 p.m. An autopsy is scheduled for next week in Newberry.
The other driver in the crash did not sustain any serious injuries. The roadways on Wagener Road were reopened at approximately 4:30 p.m., and the area was cleared shortly before 5 p.m.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources are assisting the Aiken County Coroner's Office in its ongoing investigation.
Jacob's family, friends, and community are deeply grieved by his untimely passing. We will never forget his presence, his spirit, or the life he led during his short 21 years. I wish him tranquility.
