In honor of Lake Charles resident Eric Linden, who lost his life in a single-vehicle accident near Black Bayou Bridge

Authorities are investigating a single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Lake Charles man on Sunday morning. According to the Louisiana State Police, the incident occurred shortly before 11 a.m. on Louisiana Highway 384 near the Black Bayou Bridge in the Deatonville region. The victim has been identified as 45-year-old Eric Linden of Lake Charles.

According to preliminary findings, Linden was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado south on La. 384 toward the closed bridge when his vehicle struck a crossing arm in front of it. The incident caused the truck to flip, resulting in serious damage. Emergency personnel swiftly arrived at the scene of the collision after numerous reports were received. Despite the efforts of the medical professionals, Linden was later pronounced dead from his wounds after being transported to a nearby hospital.

As part of the ongoing investigation, Linden gave police a normal toxicological sample to see whether any impairing chemicals contributed to the crash. Authorities emphasized that this practice is followed in all tragic accidents. Together with other investigative findings, the results will help determine the circumstances under which the vehicle collided with the barrier and overturned.

Investigators are now looking at a number of factors, including driver conduct, vehicle performance, and roadway conditions. Since access to the region of La. 384 near the Black Bayou Bridge is restricted due to its closure, officials are investigating whether warning signs or obstacles may have had a role in the incident. As of right now, there are no indications of foul play.

While rescuers cleaned debris and ensured the road was safe, the collision temporarily stopped traffic in the vicinity. After the automobile was taken out and the area was cleaned, traffic started moving normally again. Locals remember Linden as a cherished member of the town and have sent their sympathies to his family.

Authorities are advising drivers to be cautious and pay attention to any written warnings and road closures, especially when they are close to construction projects or restricted areas. The tragic incident highlights the need for caution on state roads and highlights how quickly accidents may occur, according to the Louisiana State Police. The investigation is still ongoing, and more details will be released once it is complete.
