Hunter and Ford Florida's Jacksonville Family members are in sorrow for Hunter Ford, a University of North Florida student who passed away in a motorbike accident.

 Hunter Ford, a bright and talented student, died in a motorcycle accident near campus on Wednesday night, leaving the University of North Florida (UNF) community in deep mourning.

In addition to his excellent academic record, Ford, who majored in information technology, was well-known for his dedication to serving people through his job in the university's Information Technology Services Department.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO), the fatal crash occurred along Town Center Parkway, near the Chick-fil-A restaurant and the Tropia Way entrance, just a short distance from the UNF campus.

Investigators say Ford was riding his Harley west when an Audi car attempted to turn left onto Tropia Way. When the two vehicles crashed, Ford sustained severe injuries. Emergency personnel transported him to a nearby hospital, but shortly after their arrival, he died from his injuries.

The sad news quickly spread around the UNF campus, leaving students, faculty, and staff in a state of profound shock. In a formal statement, a university spokesperson expressed their sincere sadness over the passing.

"Hunter will be remembered for his gentle and smart attitude," the statement read. "We extend our deepest sympathies to Hunter's family and friends and offer the Osprey community counseling tools."

On campus, Hunter Ford had a significant impact. Along with his academic endeavors, he played a significant role in supporting students and faculty by offering technical support for UNF's technology systems. Ford exemplified the spirit of collaboration and inquiry that UNF seeks to foster. He was renowned for his intelligence, creativity, and willingness to assist others.

Ford, a Jacksonville native, first developed an interest in design, creativity, and technology while he was a student at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, from which he graduated in 2022. His enthusiasm persisted during his time at UNF, where he quickly made a name for himself as a popular and esteemed student.

After winning first place at UNF's AI For Good Hackathon, a competition to advance the application of AI to real-world problems, he was commended for his achievements in 2023.

Ford established the UNF Drone Club, a student organization devoted to aerial technology and remote-controlled drone racing, in addition to his academic pursuits.

Under his leadership, the club became a hub for students interested in the intersection of robotics, computer science, and aviation. Friends and classmates described him as a visionary student who was passionate about studying and inspiring others to explore unexplored technological frontiers.

Since the crash investigation is still underway, JSO has not announced any potential charges or contributing factors.
