Blackfoot, Idaho — The local community was overwhelmed with disbelief on Thursday when officials announced the passing of 30-year-old Rebecca Rivera at her mobile home located at 1159 South Broadway. Friends, neighbors, and relatives are grappling with the shock of this sudden and devastating loss.
Authorities have charged 16-year-old Bobby G. Jackson with the crime. Law enforcement characterized the event as premeditated, noting that on the same day, Jackson had reportedly stolen a firearm. Investigators have pointed out his history of violent behavior in previous incidents.
After the occurrence on October 23, Jackson is said to have fled the vicinity, traveling through adjacent towns as part of what officials termed a multi-town manhunt. His movements were tracked using surveillance video and tips as he navigated through Chubbuck, before being arrested in Pocatello late Thursday night without any issues.
Law enforcement confirmed that Jackson's apprehension was executed without complications, concluding a tense search that involved various police agencies throughout Southeast Idaho. Officials emphasized how crucial inter-agency collaboration was in the capture of suspects and in maintaining public safety.
Jackson has been officially charged by prosecutors with a single count of first-degree murder, citing the intentional and calculated nature of his actions. During his arraignment at Bingham County Court, he was held on a $1 million bond.
