The individual who lost his life has been named as Damian Xavier Saavedra, a 27-year-old from Belgrade, who was riding south on his Yamaha YZFR7 motorcycle at the time of the incident. Initial reports from the Montana Highway Patrol indicate that a Rockport cargo truck operated by a 60-year-old man from Silver Star was executing a U-turn when the crash happened.

Officials reported that Saavedra's motorcycle collided with the left side of the truck at a high speed, resulting in critical injuries.
