Arizona's Phoenix — Late Friday night, authorities revealed that a man who allegedly brandished a knife to threaten a woman had been shot by police at 83rd Avenue and Indian School Road.
After getting many emergency calls regarding a man brandishing a knife causing a disturbance by threatening a woman outside a neighboring apartment complex, the Phoenix Police Department confirmed that officers reached the area at approximately 7:30 p.m. As law officials swiftly surrounded the area to contain the person and guarantee the protection of the locals, witnesses recounted a tense scenario.
When police arrived, they saw the suspect still brandishing the knife and approaching a woman who was obviously upset. He was repeatedly ordered to drop the weapon by officers. But according to reports, the man disregarded the multiple cautions and kept approaching her.
Law enforcement personnel used their guns to neutralize the threat as the conflict grew more intense. The suspect was struck and instantly collapsed to the ground. While requesting medical assistance, the responding officers administered first aid. Within minutes, Phoenix Fire Department paramedics came and transported the man to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.
Officials later verified that the suspect had passed away at the hospital from his wounds. Despite not being physically hurt, the woman involved was understandably shaken. As part of the ongoing investigation, police interviewed her after escorting her to a secure location.
