Early on Thursday, September 4, 2025, emergency personnel were dispatched to top Thetis Lake in View Royal, Victoria, following a loud disturbance in the lake's top portion at approximately 3:00 PM. Witnesses reported worrying signs that someone was having problems in the sea.
At around 4:00 PM, a search-and-rescue boat was dispatched by Langford Fire Rescue, West Shore RCMP, and View Royal Fire Rescue as part of their coordinated response. The body of a guy was discovered in the water after hours of searching.
