Saidu Patricia LaPlace, La Car Accident: Family and Friends Lament Death in Baton Rouge Near LaPlace, a head-on collision on I-10 results in the death of a woman.

 Late Tuesday night, Patricia Saidu, 21, of Baton Rouge, passed away in a horrific accident close to Interstate 10.

According to Louisiana State Police, an SUV entered I-10 from U.S. 51 in the wrong direction at approximately 11 p.m. and struck Saidu's vehicle head-on. The collision caused both cars to catch fire.

Saidu was pronounced dead at the spot. The driver of the SUV was transported to a nearby hospital after suffering severe injuries.

Troops confirmed that toxicological samples were obtained from both drivers as part of the continuing inquiry into the incident's cause.

The blazing crash is just another sad incident in Louisiana, where wrong-way wrecks remain a serious safety concern.
