 Authorities said that LeBron Stewart, 30, known as "White Owl" in the neighborhood, is the man who was shot and killed Thursday night near Altgeld Gardens.


At around 7:03 p.m. on September 25, 2025, a gunshot occurred in the 13300 block of South Calumet. Chicago Police received a call regarding the high number of gunfire in the neighborhood and said a witness heard six or seven shots before noticing a man down by the corner.


Stewart was found laying on the ground with gunshot wounds to his body by responding officers. A cop from unit 506-Adam immediately began CPR before paramedics came. At 7:41 p.m., Dr. Bolaji pronounced Stewart dead after he was transported by ambulance 51 to the University of Chicago Medical Center.

Along with roughly five shell casings, investigators discovered the victim's smartphone and cap at the scene. Stewart was taken as a traumatic arrest, Red, indicating that he had sustained severe injuries during the incident, according to the Chicago Fire Department.


The investigation is being handled by Area 5 detectives, and no suspects are currently being held. The authorities have not yet released information about a possible motivation.
