The American Ninja Warrior community was devastated by the suicide death of Jonathan Sharp Brown, a beloved competitor, passionate athlete, and loyal Ninja family member, who died on September 24, 2025.

Jonathan, who was born in Merritt Island, Florida, initially gained national recognition after competing in the Miami preliminaries for Season Six of American Ninja Warrior. He showed both speed and determination by successfully completing the first five obstacles, which allowed him to go to the finals even though he failed on the Warped Wall during qualification.
After he overcame the Warped Wall but was halted at the Salmon Ladder, he finished in 12th place there, earning a coveted spot in the Las Vegas finals, where he fell on the Jumping Spider.
Over the following seasons, Jonathan made a name for himself as a Ninja Warrior regular. He narrowly lost to the audience favorite Drew Drechsel in the Miami qualifying round for the Season Six finals, finishing second with an incredible time of 51.11 seconds. Even though he fell on the Jumping Spider again in Vegas, his steadfast perseverance and growth won him the respect of both competitors and spectators.
Jonathan continued to compete in the ensuing seasons and was continuously recognized for his bold and innovative approach to the course. In Season Seven, he caused a stir with his audacious attempt to leap entirely over the Rolling Log, an unusual but unforgettable occasion. Even though he landed on the Paddle Boards that year, his audacious idea showed his fearlessness.
Despite setbacks like getting eliminated in Season Nine and having to wait 23 days in the walk-on line in Season Eight, Jonathan never lost up on his dream. His tenacity demonstrated his love for the game and desire to inspire others. He returned in Season Ten with renewed determination, but the controversy disqualified him and prevented him from playing in any more seasons.
Jonathan's influence on the Ninja Warrior community endured despite the premature end of his competitive career. His persistent training, inventive obstacle designs, and determination to push the envelope all helped shape the sport. He was someone who took on every task with zest and zeal, and other ninjas often described him as intensely creative, driven, and enthusiastic.
